Ultra Filtration Plants

Ultrafiltration plant is a water purification technology used to treat impure water where water is impure but its TDS levels are < 500ppm. The Ultrafiltration Plant removes physical, chemical & biological impurities from water, the details of each stage of filtration is given below:
Feed Pump: The feed pump stainless steel food grade pump that takes water from raw water tank and inject it into the system.
Multimedia Filter: It’s the 1st stage of filtration, Multimedia filter consists of multi-layer beds of silica, quartz & gravel sand, the water passes through each layer that removes physical particles present in water.
Activated Carbon Filter: has been installed right after Multimedia Filter in Ultra Filtration Plant; the water coming from Multimedia Filter enters into the Activated Carbon Filter and passes through the bed of “Granular Activated Carbon” media which removes organic impurities like chemicals, chlorine, insecticides, pesticides, herbicides and unpleasant taste and odor from drinking water. The Activated Carbon granules have the specific property to absorb organic compounds so it’s the part in Ultra Filtration Plant where the purification of organic impurities takes place. Same like Sand Filter, after a certain period of time, the filter is saturated with particles and must be cleaned to prevent it from blocking by regeneration; it involves backwashing & rinsing of Activated Carbon Bed. Over a period of time, life of carbon gets exhausted which can be checked by laboratory testing. Generally carbon is replaced once in two years to get the better performance from Ultra Filtration Plant.
MICRON CARTRIDGE FILTERS: The micron filter has been installed after Sand and Activated Carbon Filter for further purification, usually two micron filters are put into a series one is 5 micron and the other is 1 micron. The purpose of these micron filters is to removes tiny particles up to 1 micron particle size from water. Micron cartridge of 0.2 micron is also available. It’s a consumable cartridge and should be replaced periodically.
ULTRAFILTRATION (UF) MEMBRANE: Ultra Filtration (UF) is used to remove essentially all colloidal particles (0.001 to 0.1 microns) from water and some of the largest dissolved contaminants. The pore size in an Ultra Filtration membrane is mainly responsible for determining the type and size of contaminants removed. In general, membrane pore range in size from 0.005 to 0.1 micron. Ultra Filtration (UF) membrane nearly all of the compound will not pass through the membrane.
ULTRAVIOLET (UV) STERILIZER: The 6th stage of Ultra Filtration Plant is UV sterilizer. It’s the most popular technology that has been used for disinfecting water from virus and bacteria worldwide. Using the same germicidal rays as the sun, but hundreds of times stronger UV offers a reliable, cost effective, environmentally friendly best alternative to chemicals and their resulting bi-products. UV Sterilization is not a chemical processes, it’s purely a physical process so it doesn’t alter water’s chemistry, taste, smell or pH at all.
